The association now offers <\/span>a small exhibition in addition to access to the cemetery grounds on its opening days (the dates <\/span>can be found here<\/a><\/span>) <\/span>.<\/p>\n

In the room where the ritual cleansing of the corpse (Hebrew: Tahara) and the ceremonies of farewell took place, the new permanent exhibition offers a historical, religious, cultural and also emotional approach to the cemetery. Objects from the cemetery grounds and artistically designed panels, some with newly discovered images and documents, convey the multiple expansions, its desecration and neglect, and its rescue from decay. The cemetery is a mirror of its community and a Viennese cultural site: a jewel of the Biedermeier period, but with an independent Jewish character, a place of remembrance for important personalities, but also the final resting place of almost 30,000 “little people”.<\/p>\n
