The Jewish Cemetery in Währing is a unique reminder of the culture, art, economy and society of Vienna during the Biedermeier period. Ground-breaking developments were underway during the years the cemetery was in use (1784-1879), and their influence can clearly be seen today in the character of the city, the region and, indeed, the entire country.

Business supports cultural heritage

Founded in 1784, the Währing Jewish Cemetery is an important part of Vienna’s urban history. The association “Rettet den Jüdischen Friedhof Währing” (Save the Jewish Cemetery Währing) has set itself the goal of making this historically important cemetery accessible again, preserving it and opening it to the public. As a tradition-conscious company, Wiener Städtische Insurance naturally supports this great commitment!
