The Jewish Cemetery in Währing is a unique reminder of the culture, art, economy and society of Vienna during the Biedermeier period. Ground-breaking developments were underway during the years the cemetery was in use (1784-1879), and their influence can clearly be seen today in the character of the city, the region and, indeed, the entire country.

We invite you to support the association with a donation. 100% of funds received will be used to renovate the cemetery and restore its gravestones. Donations over € 500 may be allocated to a specific purpose of your choice, or you may like to sponsor the renovation of a particular monument, either in memory of a distant ancestor or as a demonstration of cultural responsibility.

We are open on May 23!

From 10 am – 4 pm the site will be open for visits.

Voluntary work will be organised as well. 

All visitors enter the site at their own risk, and you will be asked to confirm this on arrival (declaration of liability).
Men are requested to wear a head covering while on the premises.

VOLUNTEERING

For many years, we have welcomed anyone wanting to help us keep the vegetation in the cemetery grounds under control. The first steps in the clean-up process have been taken, but many more hands are needed to wield shears, rakes and other garden implements to restore our cemetery.

The association’s aims include undertaking the necessary restoration works and establishing a museum with regular guided tours to increase public awareness of this very significant site in Vienna.
